Natural History Museum - Draw It!

We went to the Natural History Museum last week Friday morning and we came across the Blue zone in the Images of Nature section and there is a section for you to draw what inspires you from the museum today. I've decided to draw a sea creature which I generally enjoyed drawing; an Octopus!

I went back in their today to see it was hanging on the wall, nothing makes me happy to see my sketches in the museum! I've encouraged my sister to do the same, so watch out for Thank Kim Phan for another Squido!

My midnight food painting

I am currently using the Hobbycraft palette paint set which I bought for £5. I usually use this palette for fun painting on my art journal, saving my expensive ones for more professional work. Not to say this paint is rubbish, it's NOT! It's more of using my less expensive paints to see what it does compared to the expensive ones I own.

What I really love about this palette is that it has every single colours and absolutely superb for beginner painter. I'm usually quite bad at mixing up primary colours to get the colours I want, so it's great that I have a selection of colours at my expense.

I know that if I had a 6 colour palette with limited colours, I would have found it really hard to pick and choose to make up the colours I want for my painting. However, with the Hobbbycraft palette which I've got for £5, it has about 36 colours, it's really good for those starting out with watercolors and it also dries really quickly too!

I have attached 2 examples of my favourite pieces I have worked on last night and I have to admit, I am quite pleased with the way it turned out. Bare in mind, I did not use this painting on a water colour paper, so you can imagine how light these watercolors are!

So good, that I ran back and got my self another backup palette! ^__^

Sunday Funday : DIY using Washi tapes

Washi tapes are probably one of those items that you can use on anything and everything. From card making to daily journalling, home organisation and even home decor!

One of my favourite ways of using washi tape is on greeting cards, gift wraps and using them to label my jars. I've even discovered that you can use it for home decorating, like what the hell!

What are Washi tapes?

Washi tape is a high quality masking tape made out of rice paper. They pretty much work like normal tapes, but they are much more beautiful to use when decorating your note pads, labelling your craft/kitchen items and even using it to gift wrap items.

Washi tape is such a big deal to everyone right now, you can find them in all sorts of designs, you can have them plain, which is what I usually prefer. You can tear it, stick it, reposition it, write on it... you can name the rest!

I've found some pretty amazing inspiration on ways to use the washi tape. (Please note, the pictures below are not mine and I've tried my best to name the owners on here too)
